What is your favorite restaurant & where is it (City, State)?
Rose Garden in Coon Rapids MN. It is Americanized Chinese food; however, it is better than most similar places. I love their chicken fried rice. It has an amazing smokey flavor to it. The family that owns it are super great folks, and it has been awesome to watch them go from a small hole in the wall place to something much bigger. They now have an event center attached to their restaurant. Also, their lunch buffet is super cool. You do not get up and get food from hot plates. They come around to you with bowls of freshly made food to ask if you want more. It’s amazing.
What does a typical day look like for you on the Technical Account Management team?
A typical day can really vary, however, most often I am doing things like syncing with Product Managers on upcoming releases and reviewing and signing certifications. I also create and verify documentation for upcoming releases. In a collaborative effort, I have recently been working on an internal Knowledge Base for our CORE support team. Additionally, I am managing the PointCentral beta inbox which includes enabling pre-release items, answering questions from customers participating in a Beta program, as well as reaching out to potential participants for varying Betas. Of course, there is always a meeting or three scattered throughout the day.
Can you share a memorable project you are particularly proud of?
I think the most memorable project I have been a part of is one that is ongoing. As I have grown within PointCentral I was able to determine that there was a need for a better process with Beta and Limited Release projects as we commonly go through a pre-release before a General Release. It has been a lot of change; however, it has streamlined how we recruit participants, get feedback and determine what is needed to get to the next milestone in a project.
Constant innovation of processes is something that is important to you. How has this practice contributed to your success?
From my tenure at Alarm.com and into PointCentral, I have learned so many things. One of the most important relates to our constant innovation. As our company, products and customer base grow, our processes need to grow with it. I think it’s important to always be asking, “How can we do this better”. This practice has contributed to my success in being able to see where there are gaps in knowledge or process, which allows me to contribute to making what is already there more well-rounded and successful.
What is the most rewarding part of your role?
I think the most rewarding part of my role is seeing things coming together. For example, hearing feedback that the changes I have helped implement have made a difference in someone’s day or workload. I also am very lucky to work with a great team who massively contribute to any success I have had by lending their experience, knowledge and being a team that is not afraid to laugh even when things feel challenging (yay Techno Tuesdays). Being honored with this spotlight is also pretty dang cool!
